Vendetta

Bio
Born in Boston, raised in Taunton, Vendetta was nine years old when he discovered his love for hip-hop. His older sister introduced him to some of the pioneers of the late 80’s and early 90’s, such as The Ghetto Boys, DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince, N.W.A, and Salt N Peppa. The years passed and young Vendetta’s passion for hip hop put him on a mission to discover new, up and coming hip hop artists. He found Snoop Dogg, Onyx, The Wu-Tang Clan, Bone Thugs N Harmony and Biggie. After hearing this new evolution of hip hop Vendetta knew that making music was what he wanted to do from now on.
Vendetta wrote his first rhyme at 12 years old. By the age of 14 he was rapping and recording as one forth of a young, inexperienced, yet motivated rap group known as LCN. All four member decided to adopt a quick rapid fire rhyme style. They mixed that with slow, laid back instrumentals and created their unique sound. LCN released one CD before the disbanded. The two song cd sold several hundred copies locally which got Vendetta’s name buzzing in his home town. At the age of 16, he partnered with his life long friend Mr. ShowTime and made music for the next 3 years under the name Off Guard Records.
The young rapper was at a point in his life where he wanted to make music his everything and not just his passion. Vendetta made a life changing decision at 19 and decided to drop out of his second year of college to open his first business (a recording studio) with his partner Mr. Showtime. While thinking of a business plan to help deliver them success they arrived at their now current and permanent title for their business, Platinum City Productions PcP. As PcP Vendetta and company thought they would help bring their local scene to life by hosting parties that featured open mic’s, MC battles, and live performances from Platinum City Productions and many other local acts.
The first real tragedy Vendetta was about to face would change him forever. One month before his first open mic event a very close and personal friend ( Jayson Hardiman ) had suddenly passed away due to a fatal car accident.Vendetta found himself very depressed and unmotivated with all things in his life and even took a brief moment away from his rap career. After being withdrawn and distant for a short while he helped use disaster as a form of motivation and for the first time in his life and career he began to make very personal and heartfelt music about the pains and joys he has encountered in his life. Before Vinny Vendetta could release his first solo effort he endured another life changing event finding out his mother had been diagnosed with Lung and Brain Cancer in August of 2005. When asked to reflect on the situation from a musical standpoint he replies ” Before her passing some of my favorite music i have made so far was created in the time period of her diagnoses and her death. I did a lot of soul searching and praying and writing to help me cope and survive something so difficult to deal with. ” The distraught rapper felt an emptiness inside him he had never felt before. ” Finding out my mother had cancer that was so far advanced already when they found it and knowing it couldn’t be stopped was devastating, so much so because i have always had a very special relationship with my mother. It is a very scary and humbling experience to know that you are going to watch a family member you love dearly go throughout unspeakable things and eventually die and there is not one thing imaginable you can do to save them “, said the artist who has made music his crutch in life to deal with such hardships.
Still as much a part of his company PcP as he was the day he started the Co-owner has since teamed up with and joined Basement Flavor to help bring the underexposed and talented artist to the world. Vendetta brings a positive message that can be sometimes overlooked because of all the things he has been through and raps about, but listen long enough and you will hear a story of a young man who has been brought to his knees several times from the weight of the world and continues to overcome and survive. With the release of his most current project to date ( NOW OR NEVER Feat. DJ Sterby Rock released April 2010 ) this now brings Vendetta’s catalog up to 10 project releases, all of which he has done most of the mixing and recording for.
